The issue of unity and convergence is one of the essential goals of Islamic Sharia and a key concern for Islamic reformers. Nevertheless, the Islamic world continues to face a crisis of division and disunity. Therefore, the future of Islamic convergence requires overcoming the current situation in order to envision and realize a desirable and unified future. The aim of the present research is to explore the following question: What role does economic diplomacy play in the prospect of convergence in the Islamic world?
The author's hypothesis is based on the assumption that focusing on economic relations and diplomacy among Islamic countries can serve as a starting point for convergence within the Islamic world. The findings of the study—based on the conceptual foresight model of Oregon—indicate that the expansion of economic relations and diplomacy can make convergence in the Islamic world achievable. This is because economic cooperation is a fundamental prerequisite for convergence, and the Islamic world possesses valuable economic potentials and capacities, including energy, mineral resources, labor force, and a strategic geopolitical position in trade.
Therefore, by expanding economic relations, the level of solidarity and convergence among Muslims and Islamic countries will increase, ultimately leading to the realization of convergence in the Islamic world.
